FORMER Ararat motocross rider Lewis Stewart will return to Victoria for round four of the Western Region Motocross Series at Dooen.

The Horsham Motorcycle Club will host the round at Dooen on Sunday with club president Kenny Watts excited for Stewart’s return to the country.

“It’s a bit of a coup for our club having Stewart coming back home and having a bit of a ride at Dooen,” Watts said.

“He lives in Indonesia now and is the reigning Indonesian motocross champion.

“He is originally from Ararat and is coming home for a little while. He races in the Indonesia motocross championships now.

“He will also be competing in two of the Indonesian motocross grands prix over there, which are the biggest senior motocross races in the world.”

Stewart will also be bringing with him 10-year-old rider Travis Bradley.

“Stewart has been able to get Travis Bradley, who has been riding in Indonesia too, to come over and race with us on Sunday,” Watts said.

“Bradley will also be racing in the world motocross juniors later this year.”

Sunday’s event is the fourth out of six races in the Western region series.

Round five will be held at Colac on August 5 before finishing up in Ararat on September 8 and 9.

Watts said he expected there would be more than 200 riders competing.

“We will have a couple hundred riders aged from about seven to 60,” he said.

“The weather looks like it will turn nicely for us. Practice starts about 8.30am and racing will be from about 10am till 4pm.

“It’s all free admission and there will be a canteen running out there too.”
