The Hawks continued their dominance in season 2018, once again cracking the 70 goals for mark.
The home side set the tone of the match early on, conceding just two goals in the first period.
The Hawks put their foot down in the second term to hold a 28-goal half-time lead before going ballistic in the third term.
They shot 27 goals and kept the Lions goalless in the third term wit ha shooting masterclass, missing just three shots and allowing just four from the Lions.
Great Western bounced back in the final quarter, scoring six goals to crack into double digits.
Great Western coach Amy Kindred said Tatyoon’s pressure was “too much”.
“Their defensive pressure is insane. Our girls got caught up in it a bit,” she said.
“We fell into the way they wanted to play too much.”
Alex Antonio was on fire for Tatyoon in attack, shooting 60 goals from 76 attempts. Alice Astbury was also impressive for the Hawks in defense.
Alana Woods and Suse Cavanagh fought hard all day for the Lions in the mid-court.
Kindred said she was expecting a difficult match.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game and it didn’t come as much of a surprise,” she said.
“Our injuries are starting to make a big impact and it showed against a side that has been playing together for a while.
“There was no room for error at all.”
Despite the one-sided scoreline Kindred said she was proud of the effort from her team.
“In a game like that it would have been easy for the girls to give up but they never dropped their heads and they fought until the end,” she said.
“The girls are working hard at training and there is still a lot of positivity in the group.
“We will regroup and focus on our game plan and how we can improve this week.”
