It comes after more than 18 months of planning and fundraising with the project expected to be finished by September.
Ararat Rural City Council executive manager of community life Angela Hunt said it was an exciting time in the process.
“We are still waiting for a date for the concrete to be poured but we are hoping in the next few weeks,” she said.
“There has been lots of work from community representatives and a lot of interest from right around the state for the new park.”
Ararat skate park committee member John Cranstoun said plans are already underway for competitions at the park. “We are hoping to have a few different competitions, including one with King of Concrete park series through Australian Skateboarding Federation,” he said.
“At the moment we have a big group of scooter and BMX riders, we’d love to get more kids skateboarding.”
