The Swans got off to a quick start, dominating the scoring in the first quarter to take a 13-point advantage into the first break.
The visitors won the second quarter with Emma Abraham’s goal the only one kicked in the term to reduce the margin to nine points at half time.
A low-scoring third quarter from both teams meant the game would go down to the final few minutes.
The home team managed to kick the only goal of the term to finish 3.9.27 to 1.0.6 winners.
Keearna Holden was named best on ground for the Storm in the round five loss.
The loss leaves the reigning premiers in fifth position with just one win so far this season.
The team should welcome back some key players in the coming weeks following the conclusion of the Greater Western Victoria Rebels TAC Cup girls season.
The team will get a chance to notch its second win when the Storm face ladder-leaders North Ballarat City.
The Storm will need a much improved effort if they are to knock off the unbeaten City team at C E Brown Reserve in Wendouree on Sunday. First bounce is set for 10.30am.
