The Rats dominated for most of the match with a few nervous moments late in the game before getting the points with a 53-49 victory.
Ararat coach Donna Spalding said she was happy with the performance.
“I was really pleased with the drive Jess Williamson and Kate Bligh gave us before Bligh was injured in the third quarter,” she said.
“The Giants’ goal shooter was six foot four, so we could not stop her, it was a matter of trying to prevent the ball from getting down that end.
“We went into the game without any knowledge of their setup and it was a good win in the end.”
Bligh’s injury made way for Jesse Bligh to make her A Grade debut late in the match-up.
Laney McLoughlan scored 40 goals to lead the way with Monique and Raquel Scott named the Rats’ best players in the round four win.
