Having lost several close matches early in the season, the Magpies were determined to control the play and it showed as the game progressed.
Centre Amanda McClelland did well to direct the flow for the Magpies, while Kelsey Perry conceded only 12 goals for the round five match in goal defence.
The Rovers tried four different goal combinations across the four quarters but could not bring back the deficit, losing 28-46.
Carly Mitchell and Paige Spence performed well in both attack and defense for the Rovers and were named the team’s best.
Mitchell top-scored for the Rovers with 10 while Simone McDonald netted 23 for the Magpies. Perry and McClelland were named the Magpies’ best players in the win.
