With 88 off the stick, Rene Hamilton is hot on Dohnt’s heels while defending Club Champion, Sharon Powell is only six shots back with 36 holes left to play.
In B Grade, Nola Mahoney played a sizzling 91. Playing off a handicap of 22, her nett score of 69 was the day’s best, winning her the scratch and handicap sections. Goldie Rowe finished with 92.
Rosemary Graham also took out a scratch-handicap double in C Grade when she returned 97-27-70. She will be eight shots clear of Jenny Conboy and Maree Dalgleish when the second round continues on May 2.
Nearest the pins were taken out by Chris Hurstfield, Gayle Dadswell, Rene Hamilton and Rosemary Graham.
Monday’s golf was won by Kimbra Christie whose 20 points was the best score in the 9-hole stableford. Runner up was Sue White on a count back from Helen Tucker and Elaine Richie all on 18 points.
