Rain and wind was not enough to keep dedicated players from Central Grampians LLEN’s 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Sunday as part of Victoria Youth Week.
Central Grampians LLEN communications officer Jasmine Van Den Hoek said numbers were down on expected at Ararat College’s basketball courts due to the bad weather, but competitors still had fun.
“The basketball wasn’t what we expected because of the rain but we were really happy to have the kids come down,” she said.
“They were very happy to receive prizes for participating.”
There was still enough players to declare a winner with team’ T-Wizzles’ taking out the top spot with team ‘The Swish Kids’ being the runners-up.
Central Grampians LLEN is running Youth Week for Ararat and Stawell.
Ms Van Den Hoek said it was a great start to the week.
“We’re pretty excited with the turnout, especially at the Indoor pool party,” she said.
“That was a great turnout and it was really great to see kids and their parents get involved with that.”
The region’s youth week events will conclude on Friday, April 20 with a ‘Horror Disco’ at Stawell Entertainment and Leisure Centre at 59 Main Street, Stawell.
The disco will kick off from 7pm to 9pm.
Ms Van Den Hoek said there would be plenty more opportunities to win prizes.
“We are going to have a DJ come down and lots of flashing lights and great music for young people,” she said.
“We are going to have prizes for best dressers because all the young people are expected to dress up as their favourite horror character.”
