The Bulldogs led for much of the day, taking a five-point lead into the first break before doing most of the scoreboard damage in the second half.
Eight goals to four pushed the margin out for the visitors to eventually finish 12.7.79 to 6.7.43 winners.
The forwards were instrumental in the result for the Rovers with high efficiency in front of goals despite the tough conditions.
John Forbes bagged three goals while teammate Kallen Young also chimed in with three majors to lead the Rovers to victory.
Tom Thewlis was named the Bulldogs’ best on ground ahead of Tom McWilliam and Luke Relouw.
The win leaves the team in third spot on the ladder after the opening round.
