A scoreless first quarter in tough conditions would have had coach Matt Burmeister nervous but the Pumas re-grouped after quarter time and bridged the 15-point deficit with a four-goal effort to take an 11-point lead into the long break.
Conditions made it hard to score throughout the game with both teams combining for just two goals in the third term as the game remained in the balance going into the final quarter.
A two-goal final term was enough to get the Pumas the points, finishing 7.9.51 to 4.8.32 winners.
Rhys cronin was named Moyston-Willaura’s best ahead of Luke Thomas and and Jeremy Cronin.
It was an even spread in front of goal with no multiple goalkickers for the home team.
Josh Rentsch and Ben Hunt both kicked two majors for Penshurst in the round one loss.
