NAPLAN is an annual assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 that take place in the second full week in May.
The tests cover skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy.
The results are designed to help parents, carers and educators to see if children are meeting important numeracy and literacy standards.
St Arnaud Secondary College’s years 7 and 9 writing results were above and substantially above the level of similar schools, respectively.
St Arnaud’s year 9 writing results were above the national average for all schools but that year level’s spelling was below the results of similar schools.
Beaufort Secondary College’s year 7 reading, grammar and numeracy results were all above the average for similar schools.
Lake Bolac College’s year 7 numeracy results were above average for similar schools.
Representatives from St Arnaud Secondary College and Beaufort Secondary College were unavailable prior to the end of term.
Stawell College’s year 7 grammar was above average for similar schools but its year 9 results were below average in most categories,
Ararat College’s best result was in year 7 reading with average performance across the other year 7 subjects,
Ararat College saw below-average results across the board for its year 9 tests.
