The group, which also includes brothers Al, Brian and Joel, posted on Facebook late last night.
“His passing was sudden and we are devastated,” the post read, which has been shared more than 300 times.
The Geelong-based group, originally from Wickliffe, says it won’t perform for a period of time, with more details to come soon.
McInnes had surgery in December to remove a abscess from the front of his brain. He returned to filming in mid-February.
The popular children’s entertainment group has played across the Wimmera, including Field Days, Lake Bolac and most recently at Ararat West Primary School after the devastating fire that ravaged classrooms. The group is also popular at St Kilda and Warrnambool’s Fun4Kids festival.
