Runners make a fresh start in 2018 with Ararat parkrun in Alexandra Gardens

Ararat’s parkrun saw a good turnout on Saturday and residents and tourists alike took to Alexandra Gardens for the free community fitness initiative.

Ararat parkrun event director Tricia Ruthven said visiting runners had a lot of praise for the garden course.

“We had 38 people there on Saturday. Some of them were tourists as we get tourists every week,” she said.

“It was really good.

“With the Ararat course and its magnificent trees, most of the course is in shade, so it was lovely.”

Ms Rutherven said visitors from Melbourne, Geelong and Adelaide appreciated Ararat’s course.

“They said it was the perfect summer parkrun course,” she said.
