Players were welcomed back with a stroke round on Wednesday for the coveted monthly brooch event awarded to the winner.
A strong round by B grade player Barb Gow, who played off a handicap of 23, resulted in the best nett round of 92-23-69 to claim the top honour along with the brooch for January.
Despite the victory, Gow did not have it all her own way though, having to survive a count back from Penny Brown who also finished on 69 after finishing with 97 off the stick.
Brown received some compensation by winning C grade after her 97 was the lowest score in that division.
Gow took the B grade honours with 92 while best in A grade was Rene Hamilton with a gross score of 87.
Lois Dunne was red hot with the putter, finishing with 28 putts over her 18 holes in a strong performance on the short game.
Nearest the pins on the par three holes went to Gayle Dadswell, Rene Hamilton and Marg Brehaut, who took out the award on both the 8th and 18th holes.
Saturday’s stableford was won by Chris Dohnt with 32 points in a dominant performance from the club veteran.
The nearest the pin award went to Alwyn Kitchen who is a consistent performer across most events she plays.
Best of the golfers on Monday was Barb Mannix who returned 19 points across the nine-hole competition.
Elaine Richie claimed the nearest the pin award for her efforts on the sixth hole to give her confidence going into the rest of the round.
Next week the ladies will compete in a four ball best ball Par event at the club to continue the new year of action on the golf course.
Anyone who requires a partner can add their name to the board, contact Captain Helen Tucker or pair up on the morning of the event with someone else.
