FRIENDS of the Earth’s Act on Climate campaign will hold a renewable energy community event in Ararat on November 26. Act on Climate has teamed up with East Grampians health Service, Ararat Landcare Group, Upper Hopkins Land Management Group, Ararat Greenhouse Action Group and others to host a barbecue and guest speaker lineup at St Andrews Uniting Church Hall, 273 Barkly St, Ararat from 1pm to 3pm. Act on Climate Victoria co-ordinator Leigh Ewbank said the aim of the event was to provide information about renewable energy. “Many people in the community have felt the pain of increased power bills and what we are trying to do is combat some of the misinformation around the cause,” he said. “We are also trying to put discussion back into the context of climate change. “We’re hosting a free barbecue and a really community friendly event.
