Megan was in competition with three other girls and her title was announced at the Opening Ball on Friday night.
Festival King Daryl Lowerson was crowned in an earlier ceremony in Alexandra Gardens.
The festival will culminate with a Street parade on Sunday and the Ararat Show.
The Golden Gateway Festival held a School’s Day on Friday in Alexandra Gardens.
The focus of this year’s event was the interschool push cart and human powered vehicle challenge.
Ararat 800, Ararat North, Ararat West and St. Mary’s plus guests Stawell West Primary school all took part the primary schools push cart challenge.
The Golden Gateway Festival Opening Ball was held that night at the St Andrews Hall
The Golden Gateway Festival Variety Concert on Sunday afternoon featured both child and adult artists showing musical and dance talents.

Mary North Memorial and Club Pool Championship
Monday 23rd October
Sponsored by Harvey Norman and Golden Gateway Festival Nominations accepted before Tuesday 11 October, $5.00 entry to be paid at Leopold Hotel.
All entry fees donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital in memory of the late Mary North.
B grade qualifying rounds will be held on Monday 23rd October: players to meet at the Leopold Hotel by 6.45pm where they will be advised where they play.
A grade qualifying rounds will be held Tuesday 24th October: players to meet at the Ararat Hotel by 6.45pm where they will be advised where they play.
Finals will be held on Thursday 26th October at the Leopold Hotel at 7.00pm.
