MORTLAKE-Ararat Road near Grange Road remained closed in both directions on Tuesday afternoon following a truck rollover.
Northern Grampians Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Sam McCaskill said the male truck driver sustained minor injuries, including a cut to one ear.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 2.50pm and the incident was marked as safe about 30 minutes later but the road remained closed.
The south-bound truck left a long trail of tyre marks on the dirt shoulder of the road around a corner just past a sign that warned of high accident risks.
“An investigation was still ongoing as to the exact cause of the crash, Acting Sergeant Sam McCaskill said.
“The vehicle appears to have lost control on the corner.”
Police were still photographing the scene, which included a minor diesel spill, and measuring the length of tyre marks.
The impact of the truck’s chassis appear to have left a narrow gouge in the bitumen ahead of where the vehicle came to rest on its side, blocking both lanes.
Acting Sergeant Sam McCaskill said works to remove the truck and reopen the road could start by 5pm on Tuesday.
Vicroads has advised to Avoid and seek a detour from Mortlake-Ararat Road (C148) between Grange Road and Bryant Road due to the road closure.
