Each year brigade members lead the charge to raise money for Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital.
More than $35,000 was raised from the Ararat district during the 2016 appeal.
Area manager and fire brigade member Graeme Cooper said the aim was always to beat the previous year’s total.
”So far, it is looking really good around the town,” he said.
“People here are very generous and there is a lot going on around the town.”
Residents can already donate to the appeal through tins at Ararat businesses or by buying raffle tickets.
It is the 48th year the Ararat brigade has been involved in the appeal.
