For Horsham Saints, it is a chance to go back-to-back and send coach Shayne Breuer off on a high.
Minyip-Murtoa Burras on the other hand will aim to win the side’s first premiership in almost 20 years.
After convincingly beating the Saints in round one, the Burras lost the following two regular season fixtures against the side.
It happened again in the second-semi final in Stawell when the Burras were not able to carry out the side’s game plan.
The form line in conjunction with some compounding injury issues means that Saints will start favourites.
Amidst all the excitement of a fourth straight grand final for the Saints, Breuer know his team cannot afford to read into any of it.
“The guys are still focused,” he said.
“They know what to expect heading into the game, but having said that it always comes down to who performs on the day.”
While many Saints players have grand final experience, the Burras’ last senior premiership was in 1998 and the side has not made it to the final day of the season since 1999.
Minyip-Murtoa coach Jaye Macumber does not expect it to factor too much into the game, but said the feeling around the club was special given its top two football and netball teams were playing.
“It’s really great,” he said.
“There were a few spectators down at training last night.
“From a club performance perspective, it’s great because everyone is up and about and involved.”
Macumber said his team knew what it had to do in order to beat the Saints.
“They’ve been playing with the same system and style for the last couple of years,” he said.
“We know that it will be important for our accountability to be up across the board if we are to win.”
In the second semi-final, each side won two quarters of football, but the Saints side managed to do more when it was on top to come away with the win.
“They took advantage of their opportunities and we didn’t,” Macumber said.
“There were times on Saturday when different blokes were switched off and we can’t have that this week.”
The Burras will have a lot of good Saints players to keep under wraps, but the side cannot afford to focus too heavily on just a few of them.
“We just need to be wary of all of them,” Macumber said.
“You’ve also got to be able to play the way you want to play.”
Breuer offered up a similar approach to the game.
“As we’ve probably been saying all year, we need 21 guys to show up,” he said.
“Everyone has to do their job.
“If we don’t have 21 guys doing their job, then it becomes a lot harder.”
Both sides have players facing final fitness tests as the game draws closer, but each coach said they were confident their players would get up.
Breuer said he couldn’t wait for the game to get underway.
“There is always someone that comes out of the pack to play a big game,” he said.
“I really hope it’s one of our guys.”
