The Ararat Open Horse Show is the 'brainchild' of Daniel Taylor, who has returned to the area after 11 years in Melbourne to commence a boutique breeding program at WarraWong Stud in Ararat.
During his former years, Taylor showed ponies throughout Victoria and interstate.
Taylor saw the need for another open horse show event in the area to increase interest in equine pursuits locally and to fundamentally raise money for the Ararat Pony Club.
The show boasts a full program including two open rings, all breeds class, pony club ring, show jumping, smartest on parade and hunter classes.
Taylor said the show is guaranteed to be an excellent day for horse and rider combinations to get out and about in the lovely surroundings of the Russell T White Raceway/Ararat Show Grounds.
"The Ararat Pony Club will be supporting the show, running the show jumping and by providing catering," he said.
"A coffee van will be available on the day, for those who appreciate the 'real coffee bean'."
Ribbons will be given to fourth place, with sashes and garlands for Supreme Led, Ridden Exhibit and Ridden Hunter.
All show jumpers are required to wear a medical arm band, while Pony Club members must wear their uniform in the pony club ring.
A High Point Pony Club Award will be given to the club with highest overall tally from the pony club ring, which will be a perpetual trophy sponsored by Lardner Brothers, Ararat.
"Of course, we would be unable to hold this event the kind sponsorship of a number families and businesses," Taylor said.
"Unfortunately due to the insurance this year, no stallions, rigs or colts will be permitted on the grounds."
