The newly refurbished common areas include a new and much larger lounge and meals area, under cover barbecue area with outdoor furniture for both the residents and visitors to enjoy.

There is also a new fully furnished dining area, a separate refurbished activities' room and a brand new dedicated kitchen for residents to utilise.

Garden View Court nurse unit manager, Amanda Hastings thanked all those involved in the redevelopment for their support and welcomed its completion on behalf of the residents who say they love and appreciate the outcome.

"I would like to thank the wonderful residents, their families, the staff and volunteers for their enthusiasm, understanding and patience while the renovations were being undertaken," she said.

Resident Brenda Dent, who was instrumental in the planning phase, communicating the ideas of fellow residents to the Project Control Group was given the opportunity to cut the ribbon at the unveiling.

The renovations were enabled thanks to a significant $98,000 donation from the 'Ian Rollo Currie Estate Foundation', which was matched by EGHS.

The Ian Rollo Currie Estate Foundation was established in 1972 by the late Ian Rollo Currie, who resided in Seven Creeks, Euroa.

Mr Currie spent 26 years as president of the Euroa Hospital and was awarded OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his work and participation with Bush Nursing.

During the last 38 years, funding from the Ian Rollo Currie Foundation has played an integral part in numerous projects throughout Victoria and has given tremendous support to aged care in this time.

Speaking at the unveiling, vice president of East Grampians Health Service board, Matthew Wood said it was a delight to open the redevelopment of Garden View Court.

"I would like to thank the Ian Rollo Currie Foundation and the trustees of this estate being John Etherington and the Trust Company who made these renovations possible by this most generous donation," he said.

"This redevelopment has been well managed and on budget due to the work of the chair of the Project Control Group, Graeme Foster, and the user group meetings chaired by Stuart Kerr.

"I highlight the quality workmanship of the EGHS building team and local contractors.

"I would also like to thank all the hard working and dedicated staff of Garden View Court, who are highly committed to caring for the elderly every day and making sure the residents are cared for to the highest possible standard and ensuring that Garden View Court is their home."

Garden View Court provides high quality accommodation and assistance for older people requiring residential aged care.

The 24 individual units are constructed around a central landscaped courtyard. Each unit has En-suite facilities that are designed to cater for the needs of permanent and respite residents.

The redevelopment was undertaken as part of the East Grampians Health Service board's strategic objective to improve aged care services across the region.
