Pacific Hydro invites community members living in the Ararat Rural City to help allocate the $50,000 Ararat Sustainable Communities Fund. Nominations for positions for the Fund Allocation Panel must be received by July 29 2014.
The Fund Allocation Panel has been implemented to further community involvement in allocating funding as well as increasing the transparency of the program.
Lane Crockett, Pacific Hydro's executive general manager for Australia, invites community members to nominate themselves for one of the four positions available on the Panel.
"The Fund Allocation Panel has proven to be a resounding success and we hope people will see this as an exciting opportunity for the community to take more ownership of the selection process," said Mr Crockett.
The Fund Allocation Panel will consist of the following members:
Pacific Hydro's Wind Farm Supervisor.
Three self-nominated staff members from Pacific Hydro.
Four self-nominated community members.
A representative from Ararat Rural Council who works with community groups.
Pacific Hydro's communications officer, who will facilitate the panel but will not have voting rights except in exceptional circumstances.
All self-nominated panel members from the community and Pacific Hydro will sit for one year only. This means a new panel is appointed each year, which provides an opportunity for a range of people to be involved over the life of the Fund. Nominations for positions on the panel will open each year approximately one month prior to the Sustainable Community Fund call for applications.
Community members interested in nominating for a position on the Fund Allocation Panel in 2014 should contact communications officer, Remi Gordon on 03 8621 6478 or community@pacifichydro.com.au to discuss the role before completing a nomination form. Nominations must be received by 29 July 2014.
Applications for the Ararat Sustainable Communities Fund open on August 12 and close September 23.
