After seeing an article in The Ararat Advertiser earlier this year, Mr and Mrs Blight paid a visit to the pound and took home two feline friends.
Mrs Blight said the two cats had settled into their new home at Armstrong very well and are helping to keep the mice away.
The 'adopt a cat' program aims to find homes for the high number of cats that are currently housed at the Ararat pound and are in desperate need of rescue.
For $50 any local can adopt a fully vet worked cat, which includes it being microchipped, vaccinated and desexed and the Victorian Dog Rescue pays for the balance of the vet work.
Trish Taylor from Victorian Dog Rescue said the organisation and Ararat Rural City Council were very keen to find foster carers, drivers and volunteers in the Ararat region for the dogs and cats at the Ararat Pound.
