The first was at the Salvation Army on the corner of High Street and Vincent Street sometime between 5pm on June 17 and 8.30am on June 18.
It is believed an unknown number of offenders forced entry through the front door where a donation tin containing some coins was stolen along with a Samsung computer monitor valued at $200.
Thieves also took a set of keys to an Isuzu truck and a set of keys to the till, while causing about $1000 worth of damage in the process.
The second incident occurred at GJ Gardner Homes in Palmerston Street between 5pm on June 17 and 11pm June 17.
Constable Trevor Stephenson from the Ararat Police said an offender or offenders jumped a fence at the business and broke into the vehicle where a Caltex fuel card was stolen.
Constable Stephenson believes the two incidences may be related due to the closeness in proximity and the time that both occurred.
If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area during the time either of these thefts occurred they are asked to contact Constable Stephenson at the Ararat Police Station on 5355 1500 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
