ARARAT - The Ararat Mother's Day Classic has raised more than $50,000 over the past five years for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and this year is hoping to add significantly to that total.

Committee member Colleen White said this year's Mother's Day Classic will be the sixth event in Ararat.
"We were one of the first regional events back in 2009 and have raised over $50,000 for breast cancer research," she said.
Breast cancer survivor Kelli Holtham-Felini is the ambassador for this year's Mother's Day Classic and has encouraged everyone to get involved, while as a special highlight, The Biggest Loser finalist Sharon Basset will run the warm up on the day for all participants.
There will be two events run on the day, with participants able to choose from either a four kilometre or eight kilometre run/walk with prizes for the first male and female to finish in both events.
The walk will start from Richardson Oval in Golf Links Road Ararat with registrations commencing from 9am and the walk/run kicking off at 10am.
Participants will be able to fuel up with a healthy breakfast and warm drink from the coffee van prior to the event.
The cost to participants will be adults - $20, student/health card holder - $12, child (16 and under) - $10, family (two adults and up to four children) - $50, family (one adult and up to four children) - $30.
A Mother's Day raffle is also being run in conjunction with the event and tickets will be for sale on the day, with first prize an accommodation package in Melbourne, second prize a hair and beauty package and third prize a hamper from Zest Living.
