Man found after desperate search

ARARAT - An elderly Ararat man missing for almost 18 hours has been found.

Eighty-two year old Charles Barnes was discovered by a truck driver on the Western Highway on Wednesday morning.

The truck driver picked up Mr Barnes and conveyed him to St Arnaud Police Station before he was transferred to St Arnaud hospital.

Police appealed for public help to locate Mr Barnes after he was last seen driving along the Glenelg Highway in his 1996 silver Ford Falcon at about 3.15pm Tuesday.

Police were told he was heading east on the highway towards Skipton.

Police and family were concerned for his welfare as he suffers from a medical condition which requires medication.
