After more than a decade the shield has travelled north, but not before a good on-court battle that could have resulted in a win for either team.
At afternoon tea, the teams were locked on four sets each, with Yalla-Y-Poora having the edge thanks to a four game lead.
Mortlake couldn't gain ground and tie up the four games it needed to draw level, both teams winning two of the final four sets by the same margins.
Yalla-Y-Poora secured victory with six sets, 63 games to Mortlake six sets, 59 games after what can only be described as a classic encounter.
Presentations were held at the Willaura courts following the match with Yalla-Y-Poora's captain Heather Phillips collecting the shield and speaking on behalf of her team.
Mortlake's captain John Tanner also took time to respond and reflect on the season and result.
Both captains thanked the executive for their work over the season, Willaura and Lake Bolac for providing the finals venues.
Result (grand final):
Mortlake 6 sets, 59 games lost to Yalla-Y-Poora 6 sets, 63 games
