ARARAT - A 65-year-old Ararat woman was killed and five children injured in a single vehicle accident near Ararat on Thursday.

The accident occurred near Dennicull Creek, 15km south of Ararat on the Mortlake-Ararat Road.
Investigators believe the car was travelling north along the Mortlake-Ararat Road around 3pm when it crashed into a tree.
The driver, a 65-year-old Ararat woman died at the scene.
Five children, believed to be aged between five and 12, sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Ararat Hospital.
Police are appealing for the male driver of a four-wheel drive who stopped and rendered assistance prior to police arrival to contact Ararat Police on 53 551 500 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Ararat police also attended a crash near Beaufort on Friday.
In the three car collision, multiple occupants received injuries and one driver was airlifted to the Alfred hospital with serious injuries.
The Western Highway was closed for a few hours while the accident scene was cleared.
