ARARAT - Ararat Police detectives have thanked members of the public for coming forward with information which has led to the arrest of an Ararat man for numerous firearm thefts, burglary and drug trafficking offences.

An Ararat man was arrested on December 20 and interviewed in relation to a number of burglary and theft offences around the Ararat district, including the theft of a number of firearms, burglary, theft of fishing equipment, theft of four chainsaws and a tool set. The value of the firearms and equipment stolen amounted to more than $15,000.
Police also interviewed the man in relation to alleged drug trafficking offences over a four month period.
He was charged and bailed to appear in the Ararat Magistrates' Court on February 14.
"A lengthy and protracted police investigation has resulted in this arrest," Senior Detective Scott McKenzie said.
"I'd like to thank the public for information obtained from community members and encourage people to provide information to either the police or Crimestoppers."
