The open days organised by Pinnacle provided an opportunity for members of the public to see what contribution people with disabilities make to our community.
Those who attended the open days were able to see the hours of work that go into daily activities at organisations in both towns.
Some of the activities included the propagation of plants ready for sale at Greenfingers Nursery in Stawell, cleaning and pressing of garments and linen at the Ararat laundry, collection and preparation of clothes and house hold goods for the rare opportunity shop to sell and day program activities.
The contribution by people with disability towards the community in the provision of meals on wheels, company for senior citizens and involvement with local recreation and leisure clubs was also recognised.
It is hoped that more open days will occur in the future to create more opportunities for people to exhibit their abilities and skills.
Pinnacle recently had representatives from Ararat and Stawell compete in the tri state games. The Pumas were very successful with athletes bringing home their biggest ever medal tally.
The Stawell Powerhouse intends to continue on providing an increase in inclusive opportunities. This was reinforced recently with a display by a sensory gymnastics class at the end of year display for Stawell Gymnastics Club.
Embroidability was extremely busy with customised orders for Christmas gifts, school uniforms and Santa sacks.
