The by-election will be held entirely by post with the mail out of ballot packs taking place between January 28 and 30.
All ballot packs must be returned by 6pm Friday, February 14 with election day scheduled for Saturday, February 15.
Residents of Ararat Rural City Council who have recently turned 18, or who need to update their enrolment information have until 4pm today to do so.
They can fill out an enrolment form and return it to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) by mail, scanned email, fax, or in person.
Enrolment forms are available on the VEC website at vec.vic.gov.au as well as any post office, Centrelink or Australian Electoral Commission office.
Alternatively, residents can enrol or update their addresses using the online application available at vec.vic.gov.au negating the need for paper forms.
