The act was judged the better of twelve others that took part in the event, which this year celebrated 30 years.
Assistant director of the Ararat Performing Arts Centre Russell Potter said it was a good weekend with high quality performances.
"It was a good weekend, not so successful for the Ararat crews but every one who came enjoyed themselves," he said.
"They enjoyed a mixture of plays from comedy to drama."
Mr Potter said attendances were down year on year with the opening Saturday afternoon session receiving the best turn out.
He said although Ararat Theatre Company didn't win an award, its two entries were well received.
"Daryl Lowerson received a nomination for showing most potential for his role in the Ararat Theatre Company's Good Counsel," he said.
Australian actor Ken James returned as adjudicator this year and chose the well rehearsed Snuffuff's Emporium.
"It was a very professional type of play," Mr Potter said.
The Nuworks Theatre act also took out the accolades for best director and best actor.
The Pop Culture Theatre company which entered four acts over the weekend received three honours for Bethany.
It was judged best comedy and featured the best actress and best supporting player.
Mr Potter said the level of competition was excellent and he hopes to see people return next season.
"Hopefully we'll see more people come along next year to watch what are high quality plays," he said.
