Stawell CWA Treasurer Jess Maffescione said it was a huge effort.

“We did the scone drive and we actually made extra scones this year for the Mecardo performance at the Town Hall, so between the scone drive and Mecardo we made around $1,000.

“The money raised, $500 will go to Go Girls and another $500 will be donated to The Cottage for their food drive they do every year,” she said.

The scone drive allows people to order batches of the CWA’s famous scones which are sold for $6 for 6 and $8 for 6 date scones.

Ms Maffescione said a lot of teamwork made the delivery of scones easy.

“We made an awful lot of them. When you make that many, you need to work out how much flour and other ingredients are needed. I think we made around 750.

“We hire the commercial kitchen at the bowling club and just have a production line. We’ve done it for a couple of years now so we have a system, a production line where everyone has their job. There’s people making and people on the ovens, we’ve done it since 2017 so we’ve got a system in place.”
