Regional recruitment drive attracts aspiring police
POLICE say they are encouraged by the response to a recent recruitment drive which attracted people from across Ararat and Stawell.
The recruitment drive was held last Sunday at Ararat’s Alexandra Oval and provided attendees with information on the role of a police officer, the recruitment process and training at the police academy.
Around 20 people attended the Ararat event while a second recruitment drive at the Horsham Careers Expo drew hundreds.
Superintendent Paul Bertoncello from Victoria Police Recruitment and Deployment Division said the recruitment drive was an ideal way for people to find out more about a policing career.
“"The turnout and interest in these events is extremely encouraging, especially with our new regional academy in Mildura set to open in January next year.
"We know country people make great police and there's a wealth of talent in the local area,” he said.
"For the public, recruiting regional people to work in regional areas means police who are invested and connected to the community they serve.
"If you've ever thought about a career in policing we urge you to apply,” Superintendent Bertoncello said.
