Quixley claims Giants best and fairest
Players and supporters gathered on Friday, September 11, at a dinner hosted by the Ararat Football Netball Club to celebrate the Grampians Giants’ most successful season yet.
After winning their first ever Grand Final, The Giants were keen to recognise their players and thank all who had assisted throughout the year.
Trophy winners were:
Best and Fairest: Dan Quixley
Runner Up: Charlie Blake
Most Consistent: Lei Calantog
Leading Goalkicker: Lachlan Lee
Best First Year Player: Ben Smith
Coach’s Award: Luke Byrne
Russell Holmes Best Utility: Fred Knowles
Brian Burke Shield for Club Person of the Year: Tim Miller
The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation-Ararat Branch President, Dianne Radford, made special ‘Spirit of Sport’ presentations to Sue Ryan and Heather Fleming, recognizing their outstanding contributions as volunteers to the Grampians Giants, and their dedication to promoting All Abilities Football within the community.
Giants’ Certificates of Appreciation went to Darlene Munday, Kim Lind and Jobe Lind thanking them for their enthusiastic game day support throughout the year.
Coach Gary Ryan and Assistant Coach Tim Miller, were applauded for their dedicated and valuable efforts over several seasons, culminating in the Giants’ extraordinary 2026 premiership win.
Ryan thanked all concerned, saying he was very happy with The Giants’ success and commending players and supporters alike for their perseverance and commitment.
The Grampians Giants are now looking forward to next year, keen to continue their excellent form and even win back-to-back grand finals. They also hope to maintain the good sportsmanship and friendships they have formed throughout the 2026 season.
