Nursing home redevelopment on track for September
THE $2.3 million redevelopment of Beaufort Nursing Home is taking shape, with the latest update from Beaufort and Skipton Health Service showing the project remains on track for completion in September.
In its July newsletter, the health service reported significant progress on the Havelock Street project, with footings completed and the subfloor and floor structure now largely in place.
Wall framing is also well underway, while brickwork has been completed to floor level.
Beaufort and Skipton Health Service manager of infrastructure and support services Drew Mason said the building was beginning to take shape.
“The building is beginning to take shape, with a substantial amount of the wall framing now in place and brickwork completed to floor level,” he said.
Footings have also been completed for a new accessible ramp connecting the nursing home balcony with Havelock Street.
“Once finished, this important addition will improve accessibility for residents, visitors and staff while enhancing the overall functionality of the facility,” Mr Mason said.
The redevelopment will convert the nursing home’s remaining shared rooms into private single rooms with ensuites, while three new single ensuite rooms will also be added.
The facility will retain its capacity of 15 beds, with the project aimed at improving privacy, comfort and the living environment for residents.
The $2.3 million project is co-funded by the Commonwealth and Victorian governments and follows years of efforts by the health service to secure funding to bring the facility’s rooms up to modern standards.
Mr Mason said work had experienced some minor interruptions.
“The redevelopment has experienced some minor interruptions due to wet weather and the discovery of unexpected underground services during excavation,” he said.
“These challenges have been carefully managed, and the project remains on track for completion later this year.”
Local builder BuildForth is carrying out the works, with completion anticipated in late September.
“As construction continues over the coming months, we look forward to sharing further progress updates and celebrating the completion of this exciting project with our residents, families, staff and the broader community,” Mr Mason said.
