Despite lining up against the likes of Blaike McDougall and Cowra's Mathew Cahill, Anthony Cavallo and What The Fuss continued their fine form to take out the Breakout River Meats Cowra Japan Cup. After a number of late scratchings before the jump, including the likes of Eve's Miss and Go Beau Jangles, odds on favourite I Am Capitan ($3.40) quickly made his way to the front of the pack. With Madison Waters in the saddle, the Dean Mirfin-trained gelding continued to lead by one and a half lengths until the 400m mark when What The Fuss started to make his move. Despite a valiant effort from I Am Capitan, Cavallo drove the five-year-old gelding home for a come from behind victory for trainer Kody Nestor. With I Am Capitan unable to keep the pace towards the post, the Gratz Vella trained Stephan ($3) took advantage to take out second. The Long Run ($23) took out fourth place for trainer Peter W Stanley. The win follows success at Gilgandra, where Cavallo again scored a victory with What The Fuss in the Gilgandra Town Plate on January 3.
