New roundabout to boost road safety in Streatham
WORK is underway to improve safety at a dangerous intersection on the Glenelg Highway at Streatham.

The Federal and State Governments have jointly funded work on the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Eurambeen-Streatham Road, the Glenelg Highway and Woorndoo-Streatham Road.
Work is currently underway on the road safety initiative which will slow traffic on approach to the roundabout and help drivers choose a safe time to travel through the intersection.
The speed limit will also be reduced from 100 km/h to 80 km/h on all four legs of the roundabout along with installation of street lighting to improve visibility at night.
Construction of the intersection will take around six months with crews on site from Monday to Friday.
While works are underway, a reduced speed limit will be in place for the safety of crews and other road users.
The intersection has been the cause of numerous accidents in recent years including the death of a woman last October.
The jointly funded project is a part of the Governments’ Safer Intersections program.
Member for Ripon, Martha Haylett, said work to upgrade and improve the intersection was long overdue.
“We’re drastically reducing the likelihood of any further crashes at this intersection by building safer, better infrastructure for everyone.”
I'm pleased to see our state government partnering with our colleagues in Canberra to build better roads across our region. It will make our roads safer to travel on, making sure everyone gets home sooner and safer,” Ms Haylett said.
