Musicians strike a chord
THE Ararat Senior Citizens Club was alive with music last Sunday, hosting a special day that brought together musicians from across the region for hours of toe-tapping entertainment. The event, Old Time Music Get Together, featured members of The Lake Charmers Band alongside The Rubber Band and Friends, creating a lively atmosphere that kept the music flowing from morning through to late afternoon.
Musicians come from far and wide to play together.
The music began at 10am and continued until about 4.30pm, with performers and visitors alike making the most of the opportunity to share their love of traditional tunes.
“Everyone I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed it,” Club president John Woods said.
Mr Woods said the day was a great success.
“It was a really good day. There were about 27 musicians, and I think 58 outsiders came along, so it was really good. It was non-stop music.”
The relaxed and welcoming format meant anyone who could play an instrument or sing a song was encouraged to take part.
“If you had a song, they’d let you sing,” Mr Woods said.
