Moderator to deliver service at St Andrews

THE Moderator of the Uniting Church in Victoria will conduct the regular Sunday service at Ararat’s St Andrews Uniting Church this morning.

Reverend Salesi Faupula was born in Tonga and moved to Australia as a child, spending 10 years at the Yirrkala Aboriginal mission in the Northern Territory where his father was placed as a minister.

Salesi’s family moved to Sydney where his journey with the Uniting Church began.

He was ordained as Minister in 2012 and has served with distinction in a number of churches.

The Moderator of the Uniting Church is a three-year appointment and elected by the Synod of the Uniting Church which is represented by all churches.

Rev Salesi Faupula is recognised as a humble man and an engaging preacher.

The Ararat congregation says it is a privilege to have Reverend Salesi join them.

“We are privileged. No one can remember the last time a moderator came to Ararat. We are privileged to have him speak,” the church said in a statement.

Reverend Salesi will deliver his service today - Sunday 16 August commencing at 10am at St Andrews Uniting Church 275 Barkly Street Ararat.

The service will be followed by morning tea.
