Model railway show pulls 200 to Stawell
PEOPLE from across the state descended on the Stawell railway good shed recently for an impressive display of model trains.
The annual Model Railway Show brought in around 200 people keen to see some a range of unique model railway displays.
“We had people from Melbourne, Port Fairy, Two Wells, Geelong and two guys from Goulburn,” said Grampians Model Railroaders Secretary Stuart Cray.
The two-day exhibition saw the old goods shed filled with operating layouts, railway memorabilia and specialist model train traders.
“There were nine layouts and a couple of people doing scratch fielding.”
Mr Cray said it was a successful weekend.
“This is more of a social weekend, it’s easy to talk to people at the good shed. We probably picked up a couple of new members as well,” he said.
Grampians Model Railroads is also busy preparing for its annual July exhibition touted as Victoria’s largest model railway exhibition.
Club members meet every Thursday night at the goods shed in Wakeham Street from 6pm.
New members are always welcome.
