Meals a huge success

IN just four weeks, the new Ararat Community Food Van has delivered close to 80 hot meals for local residents in need. The food van was set up by a group of local residents concerned some people were unable to access a hot meal in the cold Ararat winter. The food van is situated at the Ararat Skate Park every Wednesday night from 6.30pm offering a hot take-away meal for anyone who wants one. Food Van Chairman Bob Sanders said it has become very clear the van was needed to ensure people could eat. “We have had a really good response from local people in need and I believe the demand will only grow,” he said. While the van is only operating one night a week currently, there is scope for it to be increased to additional nights, including a weekly visit to Green Hill Lake.
