Long-term vision adopted for Waubra Reserve
PYRENEES Shire Council has adopted a long-term strategic vision for the Waubra Recreation Reserve, setting a blueprint to guide future program development, infrastructure investment and governance improvements for the community’s sporting, leisure and events hub.
The Waubra Recreation Reserve Master Plan identifies a range of initiatives that could be delivered over coming years, including:
• Upgraded netball facilities, including changerooms and spectator seating
• A new youth and community space featuring multi-age, accessible play equipment, nature-based play, and walking and cycling paths
• Improved vehicle and pedestrian access
• Additional spectator seating
• New safety and security lighting
• Future sports surface upgrades
• A long-term operational financial plan
• Pursue options for regular social and recreational activities such as card and game nights, dance classes, knitting and sewing groups, chair aerobics and indoor bowls
Pyrenees Shire Mayor Cr Damian Ferrari said the plan will help ensure a strong future for a much-loved community asset.
“This plan has been created with a lot of help from the Waubra and district community and for the community,” Cr Ferrari said.
“There is a strong level of community support for the plan’s direction. We will work closely with that community to ensure the best possible outcomes for such a vital community hub.”
