The HotelCare Foundation funded the new defibrillator which is available 24 hours a day on the outside wall of the hotel.

HotelCare is the charitable arm of the Australian Hotels Association which is funded by donations from publicans and charitable fundraising activities.

Part of the distribution of charitable funds includes a defibrillator program whereby AHA donates these devices to pubs in remote areas where their local communities would not otherwise have access.

AHA Chief Executive Officer Paddy O’Sullivan recently visited Maroona Hotel to deliver the new defibrillator to publican Margaret Wilson.

Mr O’Sullivan said the device will be available on the external wall of the pub for locals to access it day or night.

“We encourage all other small community pubs like Maroona to contact AHA should they have a demonstrated need for a defibrillator for locals to access in their time of need,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
