Legacy Week supporting local families of veterans
ARARAT Legacy is calling upon the local communities of Ararat, Stawell, Beaufort, Avoca and Willaura to buy a badge during Legacy Week, which ends tomorrow.
Legatees and volunteers have been out selling badges across the district this week.
For over a century, Legacy has kept the promise to thousands of veterans’ families - helping provide financial and social support during times of hardship and grief.
As the needs of veterans’ families continue to evolve in complexity, Legacy remains committed to meeting these changes with compassion and care.
Legacy is adapting their services to provide personalised support that recognises each family’s circumstances and challenges.
Legacy President Kevin Bowles said every veteran’s family deserves care that honors their journey and meets their distinct needs.
“Again this year we are looking for support from communities across our Legacy region so we can make a meaningful difference locally in the lives of veteran’s families, and for us this is all about caring for our widows.
“The community’s generosity contributes hugely to the ongoing care and wellbeing of our widows, including providing ongoing welfare support, assisting financially with a winter subsidy, transport as needed for meetings and appointments, day trips and importantly avenues for them to socialise,” Mr Bowles said.
Currently Ararat Legacy cares for 42 widows right across Ararat Rural City, Northern Grampians Shire and Pyrenees Shire.
Badges will be on sale today and tomorrow at Woolworths, Ritchies IGA and House of Nai Asian Grocers.
Badges will also be on sale this morning only outside Willaura Bakery.
