Landsborough hosts strong contingent at annual tournament
Landsborough and District Bowling Club held their annual tournament last Sunday, with 56 players from 14 teams, coming from as close to Bendigo, and as far as Mollymook Beach, NSW, including the number two ranked bowler in Australia, Josh Walker-Davis from Tasmania.
A team from Melton won the tournament, and Landsborough Bowling Club’s Red Currie said it was a successful day.
“The tournament has gotten to the point where we don’t need to ring up people to come, as they are ringing us wanting to play,” he said.
“We hold two tournaments each year. One in November is a fun day, and this one in January, which brings people out from everywhere.
“Everyone has fun, has a good feed, and everyone that hasn’t been to Landsborough before, loves it.”
Josh Walker-Davis said he loved the day.
“I had nothing planned and Red Currie, who was our skip today, invited me out last weekend and I was keen as,” he said.
“I started bowling when I was nine, and I am 24 now, and I travel around Australia, so coming out to Landsborough was great. It was a great day.”
