Located at 123 Barkly Street, The Lolly Shop opened in late January and is already proving popular with families, children, and sweet-toothed locals.

With a new façade and signage currently awaiting approval from Council’s Planning team, the Kick Start funding will help cover some of the upfront costs associated with opening a business before generating income.

The grant assists with a range of establishment expenses often faced when opening or relocating a business into a commercial premises.

The Lolly Shop offers a colourful range of sweets, along with custom party bags for birthdays and celebrations, as well as fundraising options for community groups such as sporting clubs.

Mayor Bob Sanders said it was encouraging to see a new small business investing in Ararat’s main street and taking advantage of Council’s business support programs.

“It is always exciting to see people backing themselves and opening a new business in our CBD,” Cr Sanders said.

“We encourage residents and visitors alike to call in, say hello, and support The Lolly Shop as the business continues to grow in Ararat.”
