About our team

As the largest grain storage and handling network on the east coast of Australia, we operate more than 150 regional receival sites and seven bulk port terminals. We store and market wheat, barley, canola, sorghum and specialty commodities, connecting over 10,000 growers with more than 1,000 end-market customers across the food, beverage, edible oils and animal feed industries. Our people can be proud of the increasingly important essential service we provide across the food supply chain.

About the role

As Portland Site Manager, you would report to the Port Operations Manager for Victorian Ports and supervise a team of Grain Handlers (permanent staff and casual staff) to ensure that the site runs smoothly and efficiently.
You will be required to:

Manage a diverse team

  • Manage the accumulation and export of grain and non-grain commodities
  • Ensure all operational tasks are executed efficiently within budget guidelines
  • Develop and maintain planning to execute business needs
  • Build strong customer relationships
  • Negotiate new business opportunities

Safety is a core value at GrainCorp and this person will follow and will help to ensure others follow all OHS systems and procedures.

About your experience

Ideally, you will have hands-on experience in a supervisory role gained within a port, agriculture, maintenance, mining, rail or similar. We’re looking for someone committed to developing, supporting and engaging their team; able to build positive and productive relationships; self-managing and enthusiastic.

A sound working knowledge of OH&S requirements is essential. Basic computing skills are required to work in our systems, as well as with calendar, email and spreadsheet tools.

In addition to providing proof of working rights and suitable professional referees, progressed candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical.

Do you share our passion for contributing to the success of a diverse, international team?

At GrainCorp, we value and respect the different perspectives and experiences our people bring to work each day. We aim to increase the diversity of our workforce – leading to a range of different thinking, perspectives and ideas that create the innovation we need to drive better business results. We aim to have a work environment where everyone feels included and everyone can realise their full potential.
