Interstate line suspended
The interstate train line running through Ararat and Stawell has been suspended following a fatal accident at Cressy. Two people have died after a freight train struck a car at a railway crossing on Reddies Road in Cressy at around 10:15am today. The train driver and two staff were the only occupants of the train at the time of the collision and were not injured. The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and an investigation is ongoing. Freight on the interstate line has been suspended as a result of the accident as well at the Overland passenger service between Melbourne and Adelaide.
