General Manager, Wayne Gason, is a third generation family member in the business and gave a brief history of the firm which was started by his grandfather Frank Gason in 1946.

From humble beginnings as a one man operation, the company has evolved over the years to now become a renowned engineering leader, producing a wide range of products.

The company was founded on sound Christian principles and 79 years later, these are still the core of the company’s operations.

Over the years products have ranged from pram hoods, car upholstery, sun blinds, awnings, caravans, tractor cabins through to wood heaters, broad acre farm machinery, parts for wool presses and for garbage collection trucks.

Accompanied by staff member Brad, Wayne then led the men on a tour of the factory. The group was fascinated to watch the latest robotic laser cutting machines in action and to see a behind the scenes view of the general production processes.

It was interesting to see how various sizes and shapes of steel and cast iron were gradually transformed into wood heaters and other items.

A new model of a very large air seeder also caught the attention of the men who were intrigued by the size and complexity of the machine.

After the tour, Ross McGregor thanked Wayne and Brad for a most interesting evening and commented how fortunate we are to have Gason’s as a key part of the Ararat community.
